DO YOU STILL LIVE AT HOME?

maybe i should put as a little disclaimer "attention!attention!it's 2am. i am sitting on my bed in the pitch black night. i tend to over dramatize a lot. i might cringe and delete this post when i reread it in the morning light. but for now, i am too curious to see where this ramble will take me."

as of today, i officially started my first semester as a uni student. with that being all new and exiting, people like to ask a sugar load of questions.. but one of them stuck with me longer then the others..and that's the typical "soo..when you start uni will you still live at home?"
especially in the past couple of weeks i've confronted myself with the feeling of "home". what it is to me and where i can find it. i see "home" as a mixture of love and shelter and it's up there with the very basic cravings like food and water. kinfolk published a beautiful article on that topic. you can read a bit more about that here --> https://www.kinfolk.com/a-sense-of-belonging/

to come back to my original question "do you still live at home?" i truly hope that i will always be able to answer this question with a yes! where else should i be? and no i don't mean by that that i'll never move out of the current house that i am living in. maybe i even mean that sometimes i'll have to remove myself from the situation and move from that place in order to still feel a sense of belonging and home.

because home is a beautiful emotion and connection to your surroundings and loved ones around you and neither walls nor a address.

i am sure that your relationship to "home" and your interpretation of it is something extremely personal and that it says a lot about your needs and the person that you are.
by chatting to friends, family, strangers and little kids you can get so many different perceptions of their image of home. that's definitely one of my favourite topics to talk about with people. especially while travelling because you can get a clearer view of what you're actually missing when homesickness kicks in.

sometimes home will be the back of a camper, a hammock, a friends couch , between someones arms or leaning against a shoulder. but as of now i don't need it to be a fixed place. i want to be able to take home with me in my heart and mind and splatter it all over the world.

i know a lot of people who find it very comforting and important to have a actual house/walls/normal/home. but after willingly dropping that already a few times in my life i am starting to search for the core of homesickness and it's not a place so far.

this is definitely all over the place..but maybe i'll smile someday when i look back on this post, swinging in a hammock in the norwegian  mountains feeling perfectly at home.

here are a few pictures of my current place i like to refer as home and a few projects that make it feel that way.

when was the last time you felt homesick?
